Group Dog walks

Group Dog Walks are a great way for your dog to socialise, play with other dogs and burn off some extra energy! With lots of play, interaction and recall testing, your dog will be mentally as well as physically exercised.

Why chose a Group Dog Walk?

Group dog walks are perfect for dogs of similar temperament to have fun and exercise together. This is great for socialisation – dogs love to be in the company of other dogs. If your dog doesn’t usually have much contact with other dogs, then a group walk may be just what they need! Our regulars love to meet their friends each walk.

Our Group Walks are action packed, filled with recall games, scent games, focus training, zoomies and frolics with friends all followed by a relaxation period and time to relax and smell the roses (if we’re honest, it’s probably fox poo) in the beautiful Somerset Countryside. All the training ‘games’ help us to be responsible dog walkers, so we can safely call all dogs back to us when needed, ensure they focus on us when there are other dogs or distractions around and manage the energy levels so we drop happy (but not over-stimulated) dogs back home after the walk.

Initial consultation

Before taking dogs on, we need to do an initial consultation and an assessment walk.
This helps us to work out their temperament and exercise needs. It wouldn’t be good for us to pair a Collie with a Newfoundland. The Collie would keep on going, but the Newfie would want to stop and rest along the way! If an older dog isn’t particularly keen on younger dogs, we wouldn’t have them on the same walk. It is important that the needs of the dog are taken into consideration – we like our dogs to be happy!

If after the consultation or assessment walk we feel that your dog would be more suited to a solo walk instead of one of our group dog walks, we will discuss it with you and work towards introducing your dog to a group when they are ready.

On or off-lead?

We test recall of all dogs in a secure way before letting them off-lead. If a dog doesn’t have consistent recall we will walk them on a long line (a lunge rein) and play plenty of recall games with them until we are satisfied they have consistent recall, moving towards an off lead walk for even more fun!

Collection

We securely transport the dogs to our walks in crates. The dogs are walked for a minimum of 45 minutes, with plenty of shade/water breaks if required. All that play is thirsty work! The dogs are cleaned off after each walk and checked over for any grass seeds or ticks. We try to avoid muddy areas but it’s not always possible, and dogs always seem to find something smelly to roll in! We wash them off/towel them dry as best as possible but unfortunately cannot do a full groom. Your dog is then securely transported back home, where we make sure they have water available. After the walk, we email a report to you detailing what they did on the walk, any information we think you need to be aware of and we send images from the walks too so you can stay connected and see what fun they’ve had!
